Jo Harman was this weekend announced as ‘Female Vocalist of the Year‘ at the British Blues Awards. She was nominated as one of 6 nominated finalists by a wide ranging committee of industry experts which was then decided by public vote.

Speaking about the award Jo commented  I’m not entirely sure music should be a competition in quite this way which is why I never particularly mentioned the nomination or campaigned for votes. This does not mean I’m not grateful for the award – I am, of course – thank you to the people involved in the awards, the people who nominated me, the people who voted for me, my band members and the people who have also gone out of their way to send kind messages of congratulations’. I thank everyone concerned’.

Widely regarded as Europe’s foremost female blues/soul-rooted artist, the multi award nominated (and now award winning) JO HARMAN issued her debut album last year to considerable critical acclaim and commercial success. Her follow up release, ‘JO HARMAN AND COMPANY, LIVE AT THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL, RECORDED BY THE BBC’, already available to be purchased direct from her website, http:// www.joharman.com/shop, will be released internationally later this summer. 4 times nominated for the British Blues Awards in 2014 alone (including best singer and best songwriter), Jo was also named (alongside Gary Clarke Jr) as ‘breakout artist of the year’ by UK’s most prestigious blues bible ‘The Blues Magazine’. Her debut album ‘Dirt on My Tongue’ was named ‘International Blues Record of the Year’ by Proper Music (themselves named ‘music distributor of the year’ 4 times running by music week) in amongst a whole list of other plaudits, being just a snapshot of Jo’s impressive CV and press bouquets in her short career to date.
